VR-in a box
A VR-experience illustrating the history of emprisonment in Belgium. Visitors were virtually imprisoned in a cell for each time period.
Made for the Oculus Quest in Unity for Erfgoed Noorderkempen.
There was no budget and time to make a fully detailed and textured main environment. The stories were told in the cells. I made the decision to make the main environment highcontrast black and white inspired by the photography of Sébastien Van Malleghem.
Each cell was fully detailed and textured. The story of a prisoner during that time period could be heard.
One cell contained a 360° film about an 18th century prison complex in Ghent that has now disappeared.
All objects in the cells were 3D modeled and textured based on reference materials from archives and musea.
